Inaugural PharmaCRADLE-2013-Summary (4th April, 2013)

Event Summary of  Inaugural PharmaCRADLE-2013

L. J. Institute of Pharmacy is one of the leading pharmacy colleges in Gujarat, run by Lok Jagruti Kendra trust in Ahmedabad. The top management of the trust and the institute has come up with an innovative idea about exploring as well addressing the inclination of the students towards entrepreneurship in pharmaceutical field.
The growth story of India in the pharmacy field is very well known.  The Indian Pharmaceutical industry has grown from a mere Rs. 1,500 crore turnover in 1980 to over Rs. 78,000 crore in 2008 with about 10 per cent of share volume of global production.
This growth story is further boosted since the Indian Patent Act has been introduced in 1970, especially since January 1, 2005. The Indian pharma companies, especially companies from Gujarat, have been benefited considerably from the act. There are immense opportunities for Indian generics firms in regions, such as the US, Europe, Japan, and Africa. Due to this there will be more job opportunities in the pharmaceutical field and will be the driving force to pursue the objective of exploring and for that matter infusing entrepreneurial aptitude in pharmacy students.
Keeping in mind of the inherent Entrepreneurship mindset and will to succeed of the Gujarati people, especially Gujarati pharma students, L. J. Institute of Pharmacy, Ahmedabad has started a new series called “PharmaCRADLE”. “CRADLE” means Capability Recognition And Development Lessons for Entrepreneurship. In this innovative event, various Directors, CEOs and Heads of the different pharmaceutical industries will be called where they will talk about their journey as an entrepreneur and will portray their life canvas, which will inspire the budding pharmacists to become successful entrepreneur themselves.
